Begun as a campuswide initiative during the tenure of Chancellor Robert Khayat, the Ole Miss First Scholarship Program continues to provide mentoring and leadership development in conjunction with tuition assistance for deserving students.
Entering freshmen are selected to receive a four year scholarship of $4500 per year based on their high school record of academic excellence, leadership and commitment to service. Additionally, some scholarships are based on financial need, major or geographics.
Each Ole Miss First Scholarship is based on a pledge of $5000 per year for five years, for a total of $25,000, to cover eight semesters of tuition for an undergraduate student. Scholarship endowments can also be created at the $100,000 and will be awarded in perpetuity.
